About Famílias de Leiria (algumas)
Introdução
 Sitio dedicado a famílias de Leiria, nomeadamente à família Charters d'Azevedo, aos seus ascendentes, descendentes e colaterais.

A grande maioria dos indivíduos constantes nesta base de dados nasceu, viveu e  morreu no distrito de Leiria (Portugal). Somente a partir de meados do século  XX se verificou a saída de muitos dos ramos para outras partes de Portugal.

A família Charters d'Azevedo "nasceu" a partir do casamento, em Leiria, de Isabel Charters, filha do Ten-Cor William Charters (ou Chartres), com José Maria  Henriques de Azevedo, mais tarde o 1.º Visconde de S. Sebastião . A todos os 10 filhos  deste casal  (que nasceram na sua casa nas Cortes) foi dado o apelido "Charters Henriques de Azevedo", mas aos seus netos o "Henriques" caiu ficando "Charters d'Azevedo" ou ainda somente "Charters".

Sobre esta família e as suas relações familiares, foi publicado um livro  com  o título " Villa Portela - Os Charters d'Azevedo em Leiria e as suas ligações  familiares (Séc. XIX)" da autoria de Ana Margarida Portela, Francisco Queiroz  e Ricardo Charters d'Azevedo. O referido livro é da edição da Gradiva mas encontra-se praticamente esgotada tendo o administrador deste site ainda alguns exemplares que poderá disponibilizar enquanto não se esgotarem.

Foram publicados mais alguns livros sobre esta família (ou indivíduos a ela pertencentes) como:

     "D. frei Patrício da Silva - um cardeal leiriense patriarca de Lisboa (1756 - 1840)"     "A morte do Barão de Porto de Mós", "A estrada real de Rio Maior a Leiria em 1791" e um em 2022 "Villa Portela mais de um século de história"

além de outros textos incluídos em "Cadernos de Estudos Leirienses" e mais recentemente nos "Anais Leirienses - estidos e documentos" Todos estes livros podem ser encomendados junto da editora Hora de ler (horadelercf@gmail.com) ou encomendados numa livraria em Leiria.

Naturalmente correções e acrescentos são bem vindos. Solicitando ao administrador deste site (ricardo.charters@gmail.com), este poderá enviar árvores genealógicas de descendentes ou de ascendentes de qualquer indivíduo aqui listado.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list.
